Description: This dataset represents the Public Airports in Alaska. Spatial locations and FAA Identifiers were attributed with the assistance of Statewide Aviation and FAA. This data was spatially verified by using the FAA Supplement Alaska, The FAA Alaska Region Airports Division website (http://www.faa.gov/airports/alaskan/) and the AirportIQ 5010 Airport Master Records & Reports (http://www.gcr1.com/5010web/default.cfm). Also verified with the FAA Identifiers which are unique to every airport although there are some airports / landing strips that do not have this identifier.October 22, 2012 : Updated new location of Alakanuk Airport. Airport moved from (-164.6501, 62.6793) to (-164.7222, 62.68305) (glremsberg)September 10, 2012 : Added Akutan Airport to dataset (glremsberg)May 15, 2013 : Deleted Skagway SPB and Kodiak Inner Harbor SPB (based off information from Statewide Aviation and The Public Works Director from Kodiak). Added Kodiak Lilly Lake SPB (9Z3) and Kodiak Trident Basin SPB to dataset.Updated spatial location of the following Sea Plane Bases (Angoon SPB, Coffman Cove SPB, Haines SPB, Hoonah SPB, Hydaburg SPB, Hyder SPB, Ketchikan SPB, Kotzebue SPB, Metlakatla SPB, Petersburg Lloyd R Roundtree SPB, Port Protection SPB, Seldovia SPB, and Wrangell SPB) with the assistance of the Statewide Ports and Harbors Engineer. There were 2 points for Hollis (Hollis Bay SPB & Hollis SPB) - removed Hollis SPB from data and kept Hollis Bay SPB (HYL) in data. There are now 301 data points with 249 Airports belonging to DOT&PF. (glremsberg)March 1, 2017 : These 7 DOT&PF Airports were removed from the dataset : (1) Fort Glenn Apt (No FAA ID); (2) Iliamna Pike Lake Airport (ILI) (Combined with Iliamna Apt (ILI)); (3) Ketchikan SPB (5KE); (4) Kotzebue SPB (K36); (5) North Shore Apt (No FAA ID); (6) Fairbanks SPB (FAB) (Combined with FIA); and (7) Lake Hood SPB (LHD) (Combined with Lake Hood Strip). The Hollis Clark Bay SPB name was changed to Clark Bay SPB. There are now 294 data points with 242 Airports belonging to DOT&PF (glremsberg).
